This week we learned about the three main parts of an insect. Ask your student if a spider is an insect and why not! We wrote in our journals about insects we have seen at our houses, we drew and labeled the life cycle of a butterfly and we drew an insect and labeled it’s parts. Students seem to really be enjoying this unit.

At the book table students started an individual innovation of their own version The Very Busy Spider. They are thinking of their own animals to talk to the spider and what they might want to do with the spider. Their fluency is coming along nicely with this book and I love hearing their different ideas.

We have been working very hard on sight words. Keep practicing at home too!

I will be testing students on sight words and their math addition and subtraction facts soon! Please keep practicing at home- they need to be able to do the math facts in under 3 seconds without their fingers.

Students have been busy writing their personal narratives. It has been nice to hear their  different stories about their lives. I am sure you will be impressed when they take their folders home at the end of the year.

We had help today from our 4th grade buddies. They helped us with some special writing I am sure you will see Sunday if you haven’t seen already!

Today we had some very special guests in our classroom! Joey’s Grammy and Auntie Stephanie came in to visit the class and read us two stories! Thanks for coming in!
