April 13

I hope you enjoyed all of the artwork from our Kindergarten Museum! We certainly had fun creating our different projects throughout the month of March. It was nice to see so many of you at the Museum on Tuesday. We really had fun showing off all our hard work.

Over the past few weeks we have been very busy writing in our journals and writing another opinion piece. As I have told most of you at our conferences, I have been really impressed with student writing recently. After vacation we will start our Writer’s Workshop. Students will have to opportunity to write books about the thing the know best- themselves! We brainstormed a list of topics to write about today which we will start when we return.

We have also begun a new individual innovation called One, Two, Three, Four. It talks about the months of the year and will help students to work on their fluency when reading. They can practice at home with other books they have made in the classroom too!

When we return from vacation we will start our unit on nature. We will be talking a lot about trees and flowers and how they grow. We will also be learning about insects and life cycles of different animals. It is always a fun unit.

We have been working hard counting to 100. We have also been practicing starting at a number and counting on. You can do this at home with your child. Ask them to start at a number and count up and stop at a higher number. Keep practicing those fluency facts as well!

Today we celebrated our school-wide incentive of kindness! Students were able to play in the gym or play games in the library. Here are a few highlights!
