October 28

Wow! I cannot believe November is next week!

As you can tell from all the work coming home we have been very busy! We have been working on different rhyming activities that I am sure you have seen come home such as Did You Ever See? Students have brought home their Mom and I went to the Zoo books that they have worked really hard on. I encourage you to read them at home with your students. Students continue to write in their journals as well as learn new poems. We also completed two new class books that are in cirulation to your different homes, Dingle Dangle and Mrs. Wishy-Washy. If you have a book at home, please read it with your child and send it back the next day. We are missing quite a few.

In the upcoming weeks we will be working on American symbols as a part of our social studies curriculum. By the end of the unit students will be asked to identify some important American symbols such as the American flag and it's colors, the White House, and the President. We will also talk about the election next week.

Towards the end of November we will focus on Thanksgiving and families. We will do a few family projects and we will also work on where we live. We will make a class book on students' addresses. Phone numbers are also important for the students to learn as well.

On Friday we had our first SOARs assembly in the gym. It was a school wide assembly that highlighted the first two expectations of our SOARs motto: self-control and outstanding effort. The Francis Wyman falcon even made an appearance!
